Promhills Cabins

Accommodation at Wilsons Promontory

Yanakie, the gateway to Wilsons Promontory National Park, is 186km south-east of Melbourne, approximately a 2-2.5 hour drive via the South Gippsland Highway, (just follow the Wilsons Promontory signs), and the last (and only) town on the peninsula before the 'Prom' National Park gate and the perfect base for your Wilsons Prom holiday.

Wilsons Promontory National Park (affectionately known to locals as 'the Prom') is a natural icon that draws travellers from all over the world. It is known for its beautiful rainforests, unspoiled beaches, and abundant wildlife. It boasts 130km of coastline framed by granite headlands, mountains, waterfalls, forests and fern gullies. The park contains the largest coastal wilderness area in Victoria.

If you like walking, hiking, beautiful beaches and squeaky white sand, then the Prom is the place to visit. Promhills Cabins is an ideal spot to stay and relax both before and after visiting the ‘Prom’, a great base for the artist, photographer, fisherman or weary traveller.

The Yanakie General Store is well stocked with groceries, alcohol, newspapers, meat, etc (a 30 metre walk from the front gate of Promhills Cabins). Wilsons Prom Pizza is a short walk away (it's licensed, so enjoy a beer with your pizza too).  There is also a playground, picnic tables, CFA station, public toilets and tennis courts.  The village is situated in a rural location, overlooking rolling farmland, and is only a few minutes drive to the beaches of Corner Inlet & Shallow Inlet.

Foster is the main town (28kms to the north) with the district hospital, chemist, dental & medical centre. There are two supermarkets, bakeries, hardware, banks, pub, post office, butchers, laundrette, cafes, take-aways, clothing and gift shops.

The temperate climate allows visitors to enjoy Yanakie’s many attractions throughout the year. The South Gippsland area enjoys a climate of mild temperatures with four distinct seasons, all free of extremes. Summer temperatures often reach the 30°C mark, while winter averages 15°C, but rarely drops below 5°C.
