Promhills Cabins

Accommodation at Wilsons Promontory

It always blows me away when I see it - the night sky at Wilsons Prom and in Yanakie. There is no light pollution here and the stars need to be seen to be believed. You absolutely MUST head outside on a clear night when you are here, even in winter brave the cold, trust me it's worth it.

Wilsons Prom is also a renowned spot for viewing the aurora australis, or the southern lights, and bioluminescence (light given off by tiny organisms living in the sea as a mating call, to attract prey or to warn predators).

I (Angela) took the below images (with an iPhone) from the lawn here at Promhills Cabins in May 2024 during an Aurora Australis light show - this was by far the biggest and strongest Aurora we've seen, it was truly amazing.

Here I am getting excited watching the show!
